CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTORS

Carbon Monoxide Sensors
Carbon monoxide
is colourless, odourless and undetectable by humans.  It's often called the 'silent killer' as it can kill without warning.  When the monitored CO detector detects unsafe levels of CO, the monitoring centre will contact you immediately and send emergency help if required.

Carbon Monoxide PoisoningWhen high levels of CO are detected a signal is sent from your alarm system to the monitoring centre where an operator will alert you immediately and if necessary, dispatch the appropriate authorities.  The siren from your carbon monoxide alarm will also be triggered to alert you of the pending danger.

It is important for families to educate themselves about the dangers of carbon monoxide and understand why installing a carbon monoxide detector in the home is a must.  Here are a few hot spots in your home where carbon monoxide leaks can originate:

  • Unvented kerosene and gas space heaters.
  • Leaking chimneys and furnaces.
  • Back-drafting from furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves, and fireplaces.
  • Gas stoves.
  • Generators and other gasoline powered equipment.
  • Automobile exhaust from attached garages.
  • Tobacco smoke.
