ULC stands for Underwriters Laboratories of Canada. They are an independent organization that does product safety testing, certification and inspections. They develop standards for various products that relate to fire, life safety and security, crime prevention, energy efficiency, environmental safety, security of assets and facilities, live working and workplace safety and other areas.
What does it mean to when a security company has a Listed monitoring centre?
When a security company has a Listed central station or monitoring centre it means that the the companies monitoring facility complies with the standards set up by the ULC. For a monitoring centre this means that the building structure, receiving and monitoring equipment, and staffing are all meeting the required standards.
How do you know if security equipment is ULC approved?
When a company has received approval on their equipment they will be granted the ability to use the UL symbol. This symbol is widely recognized and respected amongst industry experts and consumers.
